These copper plates are meticulously rocked by hand, not by machine. The hand mezzotint rocking procedure provides a very desirable surface and saves the printmaker hours of work.
Hand Rocked Mezzotint Plate Surface Finishes
We offer you the option of three finishes in hand rocked copper, determined by the lines per inch of the mezzotint rocker used. A coarse finish is achieved by rocking the plates with a 45 line per inch mezzotint rocker, medium finish 65 lines per inch and fine is 85 lines per inch.
